Most women are well aware of their pelvic floor muscles, they’re often encouraged to practice exercises to strengthen them in preparation for childbirth and to restore ‘what was’ afterwards. Now research is showing men should also be strengthening these muscles in order to prevent incontinence and erectile dysfunction, common amongst many men as they age. But learning how to use these muscles can prove difficult, and experts are suggesting ultrasound may be able to play a role in helping men identify the effect of the pelvic floor on the bladder and teach the feel of a correct contraction.
