When we think of therapy we often think of medications, but food can be therapeutic too. On this week’s Food Fix, Nikki Heyder puts a healthy spin on classic porridge. It’s simple, it’s delicious, and it’s good for you, the best way to start the day!


Ingredients

  • Rolled oats
  • Banana, sliced
  • Mixed frozen berries, thawed out
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Skim milk
  • Water
  • Flaked almonds
  • Walnuts

Method

  1. On a stove, heat a saucepan. To the saucepan, add the oats, water and skim milk.
  2. To this mixture, add the banana, honey and cinnamon, cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the mixture is thick.
  3. Serve in a breakfast bowl and decorate with berries, nuts and drizzle with honey to serve.
